Review of Bambi (2013) by Tom R — 08 Jan 2011
Bambi is a film that knows how to get an emotional response from the viewer of any age. It's a Disney classic; having pristine animation and characters that are still remembered today. I don't think I'm spoiling anything when I say Bambi's mom gets shot, but each scene before builds childlike innocence to the characters.
Some blame Disney for scarring many a childhood, but the movie was expertly crafted on a technical and emotional level. After the shooting, they go to years after and Bambi is no longer a fawn. I wonder what happened in the unseen years and I can't believe I'm saying this, but I kind of want to see Bambi 2 because of it.
This Bambi is a classic and somewhat of a rite of passage for children.
