Review of Bambi (2013) by Jack F — 17 Mar 2013
A sweet (sometimes schmaltzy) film that blends violence and tragedy with warmth and childlike innocence along with a firm environmentalist message. The animation is absolutely gorgeous too, especially the impressionistic backgrounds which create a dream-like landscape.
The film actually turns out to be a very mature (even somber) experience but these heavier elements in no way detract from the crowd and kid pleasing elements of the story.
