Review of Ballet Shoes (2008) by Mloy X — 14 Aug 2010
A very cute and charming tale about three orphans (Watson, Paige & Boyton) brought up as the "Fossil" sisters by Ms. Sylvia Brown (Fox) who herself was an orphan when she arrived at the her great uncle's house, eccentric archaeoligist Matthew Gum (Griffiths).
The movie was sweet but not sappy and had sad moments without being overly dramatic, it was also a little uplifting but not too preachy. Not a life-changing epic but a great in-for-the-night kind of movie.
Originally I checked out this movie because of Emma Watson (since I like seeing films the Potter cast do outside of the series); while Watson did well to be un-Hermoine-like as possible, I think Emilia Fox and Lucy Boyton easily stole the spotlight-- loved their characters (Sylvia Brown and Posy Fossil).
