Review of Ballast (2008) by Terence N — 31 Oct 2008
This film is the contemporary blues. It's muddy waters and robert johnson extrapolated and desaturated. Charles Burnett got to this terraine first: poor black people depicted as noble and mundane. This film has an outsiders objectivity, the distance serves the sadness, and the audience is all the more affected.
Go see it.
