Review of Ballast (2008) by Jason R — 01 Nov 2008
An incredibly promising debut, from both the director and the director of photography, but ultimately a little thin narratively. The oft-noted influence of Malick, the Dardenne bros., and David Gordon Green is readily apparent, but each of the aforementioned crafted a masterpiece the first time out.
I don't think "Ballast" will earn that accolade over time.
