Review of Ballast (2008) by Neville K — 12 Nov 2008
A beautiful, lyrical meditation on "couples," community and loneliness. Director Lance Hammer drops us in the middle of a field (literally) and leaves us to fend for ourselves. Those who are willing to walk through the water (figuratively and literally) of the murky Mississippi Delta in the aftermath of a suicide will be rewarded come the film's end.
If you only can catch one film out in theaters in the month of November, see "Ballast." A quiet force of cinema.
