Review of Ball of Fire (1941) by Valerie G — 16 Jun 2009
First off, Sugarpuss O'Shea is possibly the best name of any character in any movie ever.
This movie is so sweet and fun. Barbara Stanwyck is gorgeous as always. Sugarpuss is a "tramp"---she admits it herself---but she's so charming and fun and sweet with her professors that it's impossible not to love her. It's crazy to see Gary Cooper---the ultimate cool customer---as a geek. He's a dork, but a hot dork (any guy who can make Stanwyck have to put cold water down her neck is something else!).
This really is a charming movie. I don't know why it's not more well-known today, but it definitely should be!
