Review of Bait (2000) by Sanford R — 09 Jan 2009
I think 4 of the last 5 movies I have reviewed have been set in NYC. This movie had great shots of the city. Unfortunately my review is all downhill from here. It still causes me to pause when the World Trade Center towers are in movies and makes me think did that really happen?
Anyways, back to this subpar movie.
I liked the plot at first of a major gold heist at the but the way it unfolded was lame. I really laughed when they set up an elaborate command center and the analysts/agents not only crunched numbers but went out into the field as well with guns. What is up with that?
After a moderately predictable story, including a countdown bomb timer, all is happy at the end. Oh, speaking of the end, it was one of the most idiotic endings in the history of movies. SPOILER ALERT FOR CRAPPY MOVIE-----The gold is buried under home plate in Yankee Stadium, ok, like that is easy to pull off for a stupid jackass thug.
Jamie Foxx was ok as usual, it was actually his type of role. The rest of it was overacted, underacted, and not acted. Needless to say don't get sucked into taking this Bait.
