Review of Baise-moi (2000) by Dfg D — 22 Feb 2010
"C'est rien par rapport à ce qu'ils auraient pu faire. On est encore en vie, non?".
That sentence that one of the two main characters pronounces after she got raped pretty much sums up the film and especially what is about to come next: "victims" that blow a fuse and who become predators. Rough, violent, dirty, but ultimately not so provocative as the scandal surrounding its release promised to be. The storyline is pretty weak, the acting not great. All that can be said in favour of that film is that it depicts the contemporary nihilism and taste for extreme action and sex with a carelessness that fits perfectly well with our era.
