Review of Baghead (2008) by Tom B — 02 Apr 2010
The second feature from the Duplass Brothers has none of the emotional charm of their debut, "The Puffy Chair." Instead, we're left to endure long, improvised conversations in which no one says much of anything.
Greta Gerwig, so good in "Greenburg," is the worst offender here, delivering her cutesy dialogue with something resembling a drunken slur. The relationships don't work at all, but somehow the horror elements still deliver genuine scares.
Unfortunately, these don't take hold until about two thirds of the way through the film, and by then there's not much left of "Baghead" to salvage.
