Though well directed and Bateman's character is sufficiently nuanced, as is most of the movie's deeper themes, the gags overshadow characters and story ultimately lessening the conclusions impact to a fault.
An ambitious smart comedy that narrowly misses the home run it so dearly was aiming for.
