Review of Bad Words (2013) by Bill S — 10 Mar 2015
Bad Words is a fun film starring Jason Bateman as a grown man crashing a national spelling bee. It's a run of the mill, by the books story that wants to make you believe it has a lot of heart and it attempts to tell you a tale of fathers and sons but it attempts to be ridiculous and grounded all at the same time and it just doesn't work.
Bateman is electric in the role and is about the only thing great about the film. He has no filter in the things that he says and does which makes the film entertaining but beyond that there's not much else to this film.
