Review of Bad Words (2013) by Jeffrey Rex B — 26 Aug 2015
This almost works and as much as I have always adored Jason I can't say this actually works. It's terrific for a first time director. I know that sounds condescending but there are so many elements which were great the young lad was brilliant scene stealer right on cue every time, the sex scenes were hilarious and the levels of dysfunctional relationships poetic.
The problem the pace was uneven and it just wasn't believable you just couldn't connect to the main character enough as he appeared too introspective. Either the dad issues were too real for Jason or he was just too tired but the language was so harsh at times so foul it wasn't realistic that it would have continued without some parent clobbering him and stopping it.
Some of the scenes were a delight but this was very clever and could have been epic instead only parts of the film worked.
