Review of Bad Teacher (2011) by Neill C — 06 Aug 2013
Mediocre at the box office but persistently popular in TV re-runs and video rentals. Why? Because the plot is stuck together with chewing gum but there are lot of hilarious scenes and one-liners. Also you get to watch Cameron Diaz washing cars.
Cameron Diaz also has great comic timing, but the supporting cast all contribute to an entertaining collection of weirdos, with a standout performance by Lucy Punch as the insanely coy and earnest Amy Squirrel. In the last 30 minutes Cameron Diaz's character starts to display some redeeming personal qualities, enabling a happyish ending to be stapled on to the movie.
The big advantage of this movie is that if you go out for popcorn you won't miss any essential components of plot or character development, because there aren't any. But don't go out during the carwash scene or the sex scene.
