Review of Bad Taste (1987) by Wes M — 25 Mar 2011
How P.J. can go from this to LOTR is beyond me haha. This was one of the most over-the-top, goriest, ridiculous horror comedies out there, and I loved every minute of it. The acting, laughable; the special effects, intentionally crappy; the story, almost non-existant.
It gave me a pretty huge Evil Dead vibe, so it gets props for that. Budget was a quarter of a million, which seems a little high for this, but whatev. It was P.J.'s first film, and it shows. At not one point do they try to establish a coherent plotline, other than "there's human-eating aliens on earth, let's kill them!".
Peter Jackson also plays two characters, and one of them is completely unrecognizable, but both are crazy. It's a good time, trust me. Just watch it with lots of people, and don't take it seriously haha.
