Review of Bad Santa (2003) by Gordon S — 28 Jul 2010
Brilliantly dark and nasty comedy, the toughest kind to pull off (usually empathy and self-deprecation helps, and it's absent here). Just plain mean and vulgar at times, but it's so true to its cynical vision, they pull it off.
Terry Zwigoff (also the director of one of the all-time great documentaries, CRUMB) needs to make more movies. Interested to see if DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS can pull off the same hilarity out of mean spiritedness.
