Review of Bad Santa 2 (2016) by Randy E — 30 Nov 2016

I'm giving this a solid 5 in support because that's how this tally system works. Not sure how many stars I'd give it otherwise. Definitely in the 3+ range! Obviously I found this untimely sequal enjoyable.

Like most everyone, I saw the trailer and expected a weak ass rehash of the original. However, what I walked into genuinely surprised me. This movie had respect for these twisted characters and their relation to each other.

I remember scoffing at the idea of writing a sequal around Herman & Santa. Yet somehow this half shallow comedy nails it somehow. I thought the edition of Cathy Bates was spectacular, and that she really kept the movie and story fresh.

I really liked how this just wasn't another mall santa movie yet an entirely different movie, with the same criminals attempting a different sort of heist. Obviously some of the crude filler is hit or miss, but seeing another touching scene of Bill Bob O connecting with Herman Merman really put me in the holiday spirit.

Maybe I'm kind of a fucked up guy, but Bad Santa 2 might be my second or third fav christmas movie. (more review as I think of it).
