Review of Bad Samaritan (2018) by Christopher B — 05 May 2018
The film takes you through the mind of the "Everyman" a guy working as a valet parking attendant who decides to steal from customers by driving to their houses and using their keys to get in and grab things that people wont notice. A very fresh idea, something we haven't seen before and this man risks everything, since he's not all bad, to save a woman who is being held captive by a kidnap torture killer.
Unlike many "film critic" reviews, I felt Bad Samaritan was a fresh and new take on the "Dexter" of today using unique and not overused actors who all give it everything they've got to push things to the limit.
Bad Samaritan and Dean Devlin pull no punches with David Tennant's serial killer character as he always needs to be in control -whereas conversely our main character, the unsuspecting "Bad Samaritan" has no control as his life and everything around him spins completely out of his control and into the web created by Tennant's trust fund killer.
The film doesn't overuse jump scares, but has a few to keep you on your toes, my wife jumped each and every time without fail LOL!
The film makes some twists and turns which are unpredictable, yet satisfies you with what you're truly looking for as a viewer in the end.
It was a highly engaging and well thought out modern take on an evil version of Dexter (without friends, super rich, etc.) a man who has gotten away with killing far too much! ---.
Fresh Ideas, use the GPS use Cameras use real life Tech to outsmart people- this is a great idea and take on what people should be thinking in their minds and home security today!
All in all- I thoroughly enjoyed the film and recommend you see it!
