Review of Bad News Bears (2005) by Jose M — 21 Aug 2011
I was disappointed in certain things about the film because I had expectations that I wanted to see and be fulfilled. Yes, I did like this film, but I wanted more. Bad News Bears mixes two types of characters: the contemptible person and children, lots of children.
Here we have Billy Bob Thorton from Bad Santa coaching a baseball little league which means one thing, bad news. The children are loud, angry, and foul mouth while their coach is drunk, foul mouthed, and a womanizer.
.. hmm, what a perfect match this is. The teams starts off ineptly and violently which leads to the recruitment of two troubled children, one whom has a history with Thorton. Like all sport films, you will know happens from one part to another folowed by the big game.
Yes, there could have more to explore in this remake, but there was enough material for me to like without a doubt. It is fun family- cross that, funny sports film with one sleazy drunk. This film was after Bad Santa and before Role Models.
