Review of Bad Lieutenant (1992) by Shaun B — 06 Jul 2007
This is a tough one....
The flick features a totally repellant main character who it is virtually impossible to empathise with. In addition to this, the crime that he is investigating his pretty grim. This is not a film that I can say I enjoyed, it is something of an experience though.
This comes down to Harvey. He really gives himself up to this film and it works solely because of him. The film is very gritty and the way that spirituality is portrayed is pretty interesting.
I doubt I will return to the flick for a long time. however it is undeniably powerful, maybe too much so.
