Review of Bad Lieutenant (1992) by Dave I — 14 May 2008

When it comes to this little gem, there's not difference between those who have seen it and those who didn't because the majority just don't get it...Apparently Training Day is the "First" corrupt cop movie, just like Halle Berry was the first "African-American" actress to win an Oscar.

Everytime I see this movie, it becomes clearer to me than the penis between Keitel's legs, that this is man who has been struggling with his own sense of being taught (as a Catholic obviously) about what is right and wrong, then becomes a cop who very quickly finds himself struggling between his existing "Catholic" values and a side of him that he honestly knows lay dormant until.

.Notice the scenes where he catches 2 underage girls with a "borrowed" car, but he "drew the line" at forcing them to act out a blow-job. He goes to the Church, blesses himself, addressed a nun as sister, and apologizes for saying "son of b---" Ya and he does show up to drive his kids to school, tells them not to swear or bet, and it high on coke.

This is clearly someone who is desparately clinging to the "good" part of themselves, but can't give up the other side....Plus being a cop helped with his discovery of the "dark side".

BUT he never once blamed anyone or anything, for where he ended up...Hence that famous whine/wail....
