The first film I've seen in a while to have the balls to present a central character that just doesn't redeem himself. Brilliant performance from Harvey Keitel and one of the only films I've seen that fits snugly into it's own genre of Fucking Arsehole.
One of the most gritty representations of depravity and a downward spiral of violence in modern cinema.
