Review of Bad Lieutenant (1992) by Jakob...with A K — 03 Dec 2009

I really wanted to like this film... I just had a hard time with it - maybe becasue I've watched the show The Shield before I took the time to watch this film and in turn the film didn't feel too original; but more like a longer episode of The Shield. Now, I know that The Shield came out many years after Bad Lieutenant was made - but I feel that that show took the best from this movie in the creation of a character like Vic Mackey and left out the garbage, like the plot (if you can call it that). The plot is what lost me - too me the story and especially the ending was not intriguing at all. And while Harvey Keitel was fabulous at his role I had a hard time staying engaged.

I hope for a lot more from Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans.
