Review of Bad Education (2004) by Rich B — 02 Jan 2009
Bad Education (2004): "Hey, I'm sucking your dick." - Angel.
Film Director Enrique Goded's lover Ignacio from his boarding school days turns up with a short story containing a long held secret regarding their teacher. When Enrique agrees to adapt the story, it's not long before he becomes unsettled by his old friend's behavior and begins a journey into an even darker story.
Fele Martinez, who plays Enrique, is terrific in Pedro Almodóvar's film noir character study that received significant praise following its release. The intrigue had me twisted around pretty good by half way through the film. I was cursing Almodóvar while back-tracking to try and put together the pieces, but I eventually warmed to his work as foul play replaced deceit in the second half of the story.
