Surprisingly intriguing and rather well done. Gael Garcia Bernal has always been one of my favorite Hispanic actors and he is excellent in this, as is Fele MartÃnez. Granted, the NC-17 rating will either turn people off, or draw them to it.
As for my viewing experience, I got the R rated version from Blockbuster and I was...totally taken aback when a blurry pixelization popped up in multiple scenes. Although I wouldn't necessarily be dying to see the entire picture, it was extremely annoying and funny looking.
Overall, a nice effort from Almodovar though I'd like to see something different from him sans trannys and shocking twists.
