Review of Bad Dreams (1988) by Ryan S — 03 Jan 2011
Is this a Nightmare on Elm Street rip-off? Maybe a little, but it really doesn't matter because it doesn't work on any level, so if they were trying to cash in on the success of Nightmare, it sure didn't work.
The plot just isn't very interesting, it's like they basically took the Elm Street plot, mostly from the third one, and took out everything interesting about it and what is left is this movie.
This one even stars one of the actresses in the third Nightmare, Jennifer Rubin, who I actually quite like, both in this and Dream Warriors, would have liked to see her do more stuff. So she's not bad and the character is alright, if nothing new at all, but the other characters and the story itself falls flat and it seems to get worse and worse up until the ending, which is just completely anti-climactic and underwhelming and leaves you really not caring about it.
