Review of Bad Boys II (2003) by Hasib H — 10 Jun 2012
Okay, I know what you're thinking. "5 stars? You are out of your goddamn mind.".
Suck it. This movie is everything that I expect from an action movie spectacle. Car chases, explosions, gun fights, beautiful women, a raid, one liners, and pure utter chaos all in a 2 hour movie. There are two car chase scenes in the first hour of the movie that border on pure insanity. There are buildings and vehicles that explode for absolutely no reason. Bullets fly with no rhyme and reason. But the real joy that I get from watching this movie is watching Martin Lawrence's and Will Smith's chemistry with each other. They make their friendship/partnership absolutely believable and is the foundation of this movie. An example of their greatness is properly displayed in the scene where Mike Lowrey and Marcus both interrogate Marcus' daughter's date at the front door. I have told one of my friends that it's my dream to re-enact this scene for my future daughter and since he was the first amongst us to have a daughter, he told me that this is definitely happening (and he was absolutely sincere!).
There are many other films out there that are more meaningful, have better writing, and all of that other jazz. However, if you don't find yourself extremely entertained while viewing this movie, I'm convinced you either take yourself too seriously or you don't have a pulse. In fact, you should kill yourself so you don't have a pulse. This movie really kicks way too much ass.
