Review of Bad Boys II (2003) by Liam C — 10 May 2014

Say what you will about Michael Bay's ability to direct, he does what he knows best and he makes a damn good action film. What do people honestly expect when you have a film like this, it's a sequel first off so take whatever you know about the first one and expect more of the same in the sequel, I mean really! I reckon most of the people who reviewed it just don't know how to have a fun time.

It isn't going to challenge your brain or give you big questions to ponder. It's a loud, funny action film with a pair of immensely likeable leads who say very, very funny things to each other that entertains and then some.

Like most of Bays films though, it feels like it could have used another appointment in the editing room, some of the action scenes, while impressive and fun to watch, feel like they're on screen for a long time, the first action scene feels like it would be an apt finale to any other film, but for this film it's the first action scene and then it just gets crazier from there.

I like how the budget went skyrocketing from the first film that was 19 million to 133 million. There are very few directors working today who could even come close to the visual spectacle that Michael Bay manages to produce.

I might not like most of his stuff you need to give credit where credit is due.
