Review of Bad Boys II (2003) by Jacob B — 05 Jan 2019
So Michael Bay's bad reputation preceded the Transformers sequels, huh? Yes, I know this came after Pearl Harbor but apparently, though Bay had his problems, he was completely against the romance that the movie is hated for.
As for this movie...why is it hated? Yeah, the movie's overlong at two and a half hours, especially since it has a simple plot: "Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have to stop a Cuban kingpin who wants to take over the drug trade" but for me, this movie's just as fun as the first film, it not better.
The action sequences are quite unique and visually interesting with THREE crazy awesome car chases, Smith and Lawrence riffing off of each other is always fun to witness and the humour had me pissing my pants with laughter.
The Transformers movies, even the first film, never reached that amount of funny. The soundtrack's okay as well. You consider Michael Bay's movies to be an abomination? Then this movie's not for you.
