This could of easily been just two actor's that coincided again on a new project. But of course we're told this is a continual of the previous movies.
It's like they dropped these two characters to play the Liam Neeson role (with Martin Lawrence for some average comedy relief) on another random Miami/drugs/cops movie. And the Vader/Luke momen, dear me.
