Review of Bad Ass (2012) by Roxanne R — 05 Jul 2012
This is a film about redemption, revenge, second chances and what I liked the most about it: The first 10 minutes as the camera glides along areas of East Los Angeles- some very colorful, nice murals, I want to see that area one day, I want to walk and take photos, yes I know its reputation quite well but I am also Hispanic so I should blend in.
Second thing I liked very much is the message sent to the viewer- to America in regards to the treatment of our war veterans! Veterans risked their lives for our nation, they fought while the rest of us were safe and sound at home, enjoying our liberties and pursuing happiness.
A Vietnam war hero named Frank Vega (Danny Trejo) returns home (Los Angeles) in search for his high school girlfriend who ended up marrying someone else. Vega seeks employment but without a college degree he is unsuccessful.
He becomes a street vendor; then as time goes by one day a bus incident caught on video and released on You Tube makes him a media sensation- he gets his 15 mins of fame. Shortly thereafter his best friend Klondike is murdered during a robbery attempt and with no one to actively seek the murderer, Frank takes it upon himself to discover who shot his friend.
In the process, he uncovers a huge scandal where many heads may roll..Recommended and worth the redbox rental..!
