Review of Bad Ass (2012) by Dc E — 22 Jul 2012
"Bad Ass" 10 Scale Rating: 4.0 (Bad) ...
The Good: While likable, Danny Trejo won't be mistaken for a great dramatic actor, but he actually does a solid job here. Talented veteran actors Ron Perlman and Charles S. Dutton in small roles was a pleasant surprise. The film doesn't take itself too seriously (most of the time), and is pretty entertaining in short spurts.
The Bad: It gets very VERY silly. There are moments where you think it is going to become something decent, but it ends up as multiple scenes of the lead character beating up the bad guys ... ad nauseum. You can pretty much replay his first fist fight for every scene and get the same result. The repetitiveness in a film that already has a (albeit purposely) paper thin plot flat out ruins it.
