What is it with Dennis Hopper movies and saxophones? Why does he think people want to see him with saxophones? Movies don't get as bad as this. If this movie had a B-list cast, it would have been okay, but we're talking about Hopper, Jodie Foster, Charlie Sheen, Vincent Price, Joe Pesci (who had the brains to remove his name from the credits), Vincent Price, Dean Stockwell, a brief role by Catherine Keener, John Turtorro and even Bob Dylan.

It's like a mafia movie of The Cannonball Run. The plot, or lack of it, involves Foster as an artist who does nothing more than write phrases on those message boards that were popular in the 1980's.

She witnesses a mob murder and runs from both the authorities and the mob, who can't seem to find here, even though he does nothing to stay hidden. Finally, Hopper's character catches her and falls in love with her and makes her do weird sexual things and buys her snowball cupcakes by the dozen and there's some ending in a power plant or factory.

Anywhere, Hopper and Foster are wearing radiation suits. Anyway, it doesn't matter, because none of this movie makes sense. Hopper who directed this movie had his name taken off when it was called Catchfire and Alan Smithee was added.

Then, Hopper re-edited it and made it longer or shorter and called it Backtrack. Whatever it is called, it is horrible.
