Review of Backdraft (1991) by Blake B — 11 Jul 2009
A pretty good movie that suffers a little bit from slow pacing in parts and a lazy plot that serves as background noise for what's really just a character development piece. Still, Ron Howard managed to get a good (okay, decent) performance out of a Baldwin brother not named Alec, so that in itself makes this film a major achievement.
Robert De Niro's talents are wasted in a part that never really goes anywhere, but Kurt Russell, Scott Glenn and Donald Sutherland all turn in great performances.
