Review of Back to the Future Part III (1990) by Jordan M — 06 Apr 2012
Ok, but barely. The first movie was great - fun, very original. Second didn't add much, except clever use of the first movie. Third seems even more pointless, though is less confusing than the second.
Third instalment is more a straightforward Wild West adventure, complete with the same heroes and villains as the previous two movies.
Michael J Fox is good, yet again, as Marty McFly. Christopher Lloyd's performances in the series were a bit uneven. In #1 he was great - perfectly intense and over-the-top. In #2 he overdid the intensity and was irritating. In #3 he seems a bit subdued by the standards of the previous two, though is a refreshing change from #2, and fits in with the more settled nature of his character in #3.
Good support from Mary Steenburgen.
Best news about #3 is that there was no Back to the Future 4. I generally dislike sequels and Back to the Future would have been perfect if it ended after one movie.
