Review of Back to the Future Part II (1989) by President P — 15 Apr 2013
The first and third acts are a great sequel, but the second act, well that's another story. Back to the Future Part II is in no way a bad sequel, on contrary it's very good but has some pretty bad moments.
Most of the problems fall on the entire second act itself. The second act is very dark and uncomfortable to watch due to its predecessors fairly light hearted nature and the also the tone set in the beginning of this film.
While the second act does add more suspense, for me it was real strange and not at all that entirely fun to watch. Second act aside, the first act picks up where the last film ands very well and isn't that all to bad to watch.
The third act on the other hand is perfect, the plot of this act is just marvelous. Allowing both films to run parallel to each other was risky, but played ever so well. Overall, Part II shares all the hallmarks that mad the first film great, but its second act is a pretty big negative for what otherwise was a near perfect film.
