Review of Back to the Future Part II (1989) by Tatsuhito K — 23 Oct 2015
This may be my least favorite Back to the Future film. Although it's only 105 minutes long, it feels too baggy and the tone is very uneven. I do enjoy the back-and-forth between Marty and Doc, and some of the action is still fun to watch, but the story is too convoluted and the visual effects seem more dated and uncanny than the predecessor (which is odd because the original Back to the Future came out 4 years before the Part 2.
.. and the effects in that film still hold up to this day.) It lacks the heart and emotion of the original, and I found its zaniness quite exhausting. Back to the Future Part 2 is occasionally entertaining, but it's an unnecessary sequel and made me miss the simplicity of the first film.
