Review of Back to the Future (1985) by Luke N — 21 Aug 2013
The first instalment to this brilliant franchise is universally considered the best one. With Robert Zemeckis at the helm, and Bob Gale's wonderful screenplay brought to life by great chemistry and performances from all involved, there is no wonder that this marvellous adventure became the classic slice of movie-history that it is.
One doesn't need to have been brought up in the 1950's to feel that certain tug of nostalgia in the simpler, picturesque, mid-century Californian town. There just something about it - as there is with this entire saga - that makes us feel strangely at home.
Not many movies have the ability to do that, and so this one is - and always will be - a very important addition to the list of great Hollywood films.
