Review of Back to the Future (1985) by Danny R — 25 Jul 2015
Robert Zemeckis' delightful, wonderfully engaging time-travel sci-fi comedy, concerning a 80s teenager named Marty McFly, played superbly by Michael J. Fox, who travels back in time to the 50s, where he must arrange for his mismatched parents, nicely played by Lee Thompson & Crispin Glover to meet, or he will not exist! Christopher Lloyd is terrific as Doc Brown the eccentric scientist who sets the story in motion by creating a time machine out of a DeLorean stainless steel sports car, which will transport Marty back in time.
Astute direction by Robert Zemeckis, with a clever Oscar nominated original screenplay by Robert Zemeckis & Bob Gale. Fine supporting performances by Wendie Jo Sperber, Marc McClure, Claudia Wells, James Tolkan, Thomas F.
Wilson, Casey Siemaszko, and Billy Zane. Huey Lewis sings the film's Oscar nominated hit song "The Power of Love," and has a cameo as a high-school teacher. Great fun all the way, a must-see! Followed by two sequels and an animated TV series.
Highly Recommended.
