Hot off the success of Romancing the Stone, Robert Zemeckis takes the helm as director for sci-fi comedy Back to the Future, starring Michael J. Fox as skateboarding, guitar playing â??slackerâ?? Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as a mad and eccentric white-haired scientist, Emmett â??Docâ?? Brown. Written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale, Back to the Future tells the exhilarating tale of Marty McFlyâ??s journey back in time, to 1955, when his parents were still at school.

Director Zemeckis and writing partner Bob Gale have written a very smart script, which weaves between two different plots, both of which are vital to the story. Firstly, Marty needs to get back to 1985, and can only do so with the help of a lightning strike that happens in the future (or the past). Secondly, when Martyâ??s mother falls in love with Marty instead of his father, Marty must somehow get his mother, Lorraine, to fall in love with his father, George.

With a heavy bag of real heart-in-mouth moments, a casual littering of amusing performances and most of all a super-smart script that has you hooked from start to finish, itâ??s clear to say that Back to the Future isâ?¦well, immensely enjoyable and a real hit!
