Review of Babylon A.D. (2008) by Chad R — 26 Jul 2009
Really enjoyed this futuristic movie in the vein of City of Men with more action. Not as dramatic but better action and special effects.
Vin plays his typical tough ass, selfish, mercenary with honor kind of samurai character getting the cute, young Aurora through Russia & Canada and into the United States to New York.
The movie focuses on the possible uncaring future. The lack of value for the typical human life, refugee camps, and an elite few a$$holes making decisions and killing on whims. People eating dogs & cats as a main food staple, human depravity, cloning of humans and animals. A dark vision that Reddick..er Toorop needs to navigate with Michelle Yeoh to get their charge safely to the supposed haven of New York.
Typical over the top unbelievable fight scenes but what the hell. The kind of movie I like where the bad guy gets it in the end...but you have to imagine it because either they were hoping for a sequel or ran out of money.
