Review of Babylon A.D. (2008) by Benjamin C — 21 Aug 2009

Total shit. As I understand it, there was some drama between artists and studios and this cut isn't what was intended... I don't know, but it's totally unforgivable. The first few minutes are kind of neat when they establish the world of future Russia.

Then things get slightly less interesting as Vin Diesel is airlifted to a monestary to retrieve a girl for transportation. Then there's a cage fight. Over the course of the first half hour, it goes from a promising spactacle of entertainment to an ugly trainwreck.

This is unfortunate because the concept is strong and Melanie Thierry is wonderful, but the mess of a plot and absurd action completely distract from any moments of decency. Do not watch it.
