Review of Babylon A.D. (2008) by Dillon K — 07 Nov 2010
What started as an interesting portrayal of a grim human future quickly spirals into pompous and unbelievable twists that are seldom explained or even explored to their full potential.
The direction is sound, doing its best to evoke tension from the various situations of danger which Vin Deisel and crew find themselves in, but ultimately it is average at best.
Vin Deisel's acting is most definately as weak as its even been, and the struggling actor does everything he can to turn people off this film.
The film does offer some interesting and sometimes effective action sequences, most notable a segment set in the Alaskan snow caps. But, for the most part, the action attempted is below par, bordering on ridiculously cheap.
There's nothing believable about this film. If you want to see an astonishing vision of mankind's future, go see Children of Men instead.
