Review of Baby Mama (2008) by Rachel Leann B — 09 Jun 2010

I've actually had this movie for a while now, I just never got around to reviewing it... until now. What else is there to say except I was laughing my chops off at the perfect pairing that is Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. It's like Weekend Update, the one thing that kept SNL alive while they were both on, just better. Cause as far as the comedy goes, it's all improv, totally unscripted. It's not hilarious the whole way through but it is funny and there are PARTS of the movie that are absolutely hilarious. For anyone who doesn't like this movie I just have one thing to say... Bitch, I don't know your life!

Edit: Just recently saw this again and it really gets better and better everytime I watch it. While the comedy is not still as fresh as it was the first time around, or the second, or the third, it holds its own as a comedy full of emotion that tugs at your heartstrings.

In the scene where Angie is apologizing to Kate in the courtroom, it reminds me of all the friendships that I've never had. The joy of watching a movie is being able to tell the difference between fantasy and reality when the similarities aren't there. In my experience, Angie's apology would have never happened that quickly, if at all. When people stop talking to you or stop being your friend, that's it, its done. If they ever come to a point where they feel an apology is needed, it takes them months, sometimes years just to scrounge up the courage to do so. And even then, sometimes, they still don't. If I had a friend like Angie in this film I would love him/her forever and never let him/her go and hope they'd do the same for me always. No matter what they did wrong. Half a star was added by me for all of that and for making me think!
