Review of Baby Mama (2008) by Eden R — 05 Oct 2009
This is helium compared to lightweight comedies. Any filmgoer could knock the plot out on the back of a postage stamp and yet it has a few saving graces.
Fey is solid doing her Liz Lemon schtick and there is a lack of sentimentality about mothers and career women which is refreshing. Surprisingly Poehler is weak with another rendition of her Appalachian thing. Again its Dax Shepard who steals every scene and was Kinnear trying to pay off a loan as this is a do-nothing role. Sigourney is great as usual which leaves us with a lot of gags and though the hit rate is low enough, gems can be found to get through 100 minutes.
