Review of Baby Driver (2017) by R F — 27 Jun 2017
As an Edgar Wright fan, I spent the day leading up to the preview screening I saw terrified I was going to be disappointed; thankfully, and unsurprisingly, I wasn't. Whilst it's true that Baby Driver lacks the intense depth of Wright's previous films, given what a high bar that is this film is still far above the average studio blockbuster.
The soundtrack is superb, and the synchronisation with the action one would expect from Wright is brilliantly done (the highlight for me being the opening titles done in one shot, perfectly capturing in live-action what Guardians of the Galaxy 2 tried and failed to do in CGI).
Superb.
