Review of Baby Boom (1987) by Chris M — 09 Apr 2010
This is one of those movies that's easy to forget, but when you remember it you go "Oh yeah, I remember the entire story!" I'm no exception to that. I haven't seen this movie in years (probably over a decade) but I remember just about everything about it.
"Baby Boom" is about a workaholic named J.C. Watt who is living a very straightforward, stable life. That is until her relatives die in a car crash and J.C. is given their baby. J.C. finds herself in a tough situation as she tries to fit the baby into her tightly scheduled life. The beginning part of this film is the strongest part. There's a feeling of satire to it. The second part of the film doesn't quite live up to it's former part. It devolves into a kind of fantasy world where you know everything will turn out right. That's not really a bad thing, it's just that I find the first part better.
It's a cute comedy that you should check out. Dianne Keaton, as usual, does a great job as J.C. Watt. Women might find this a little more enjoyable as well, especially mothers.
