Review of Baby (2015) by Nabarun D — 26 Jan 2015
Pandey Ji did another 'kamaal', hitting the right notes almost everywhere. No unnecessary backstory or subplots, no nonsense-dialogue, no patriotic overdose, no physics-defying stunts. No romance, no songs. The movie stays right on pace, in a serious mood. Things seem real and arresting, so much so, sometimes it felt like a Daniel-Craig-007 movie.
Akshay Kumar delivers finely as his second 'Ajay' in his second movie with Pandey. Anupam Kher is doing his bit as Michael Caine does in Chris Nolan's movies. Murli Sharma provides some comic relief as the Minister's PA. I just wish K.K Menon had got a true role and done better than just making appearances!
Its flaws notwithstanding, this 'Baby' is capable of punching real hard! Aadat hai, Pandey Ji will say perhaps!
Trivia : Our hero shares the name with Aamir Khan's ACP in Sarfarosh, the last good movie made on similar topics.
