Review of Babette's Feast (1987) by Ben L — 05 Jul 2007
A wonderful tale of gratitude and epicurean revelation. Babette, a celebrated French chef, is sheltered by a village of puritan Danes. After years of living amongst them by their abstemious rules she prepares an exotic feast to show her gratitude.
Her modesty, generosity and skill as a chef open the eyes of the dour village to the pleasures that life actually holds and to the rewards of selflessness.
