An overrated Oscar-winning feature. While Babette's earnest and simple dreams are inspirational, I found the film to be insipid, and the film has lost a lot of its lustre with time, while Au Revoir Les Enfants - which failed to make the cut for the Oscars - has only grown in stature with the ensuing years.
